Community members,
particularly young men and women, benefited from
Hiwot program. Their awareness and knowledge on
VCT, FP and HIV/AIDS has improved. The interantion
has also received good response.
There is active involvement of men and women, particularly
HIV positive women, as well as young people who
demand for and require access to VCT, FP and other

During our discussion and the project’s
dissemination seminar, the leaders from Idirs, Women Associations
and local government units more than once expressed their
interest to work with Hiwot. They emphasized that the
concept of Hiwot project should be brought to the grassroots
levels. Idirs is established voluntarily by the community
members for serving the community, it is community based
association. Everybody in the community is a member to
the Idirs group. Idir is best agent to reach the community
